Each holiday season our local newspaper publishes letters that the kids have written at school. Here is this years letter by my son with special needs. He was born 9 years ago with Down syndrome. A big 3rd grader with a lot to say about his pets:
Dear Santa:
How are you? On Christmas, I would like some toys for my cats and dog, so they will stop roughhousing and won’t get in trouble. Also (for my dog) no more running at the fence or barking.
What do I want for Christmas? Presents, and ………..food.
Sincerely,
Jackson

I am loving your Jackson! My favorite part is that, “How are you?”
